More reviews for the Nokia N96

Just a quick update today … a couple of more reviews have popped up in the online media that are worth having a look at if you still can’t get enough of reading about the N96.

RwdMag.Com has done an iPhone vs Nokia N96 review here. Their verdict :

Nokia N96 RWD stats…
Buyability:
High – small, feature-packed and pocket-money worthy.
Longevity: Med – although this a another Nokia beauty, they’ll probably have an N96.5 out next week.
Mugability: High – make sure your bodyguards are paid in advance so you don’t get caught slipping.

There is also quite an indepth review over at TrustedReviews.Com . The review has been done on a preproduction version of the phone and the reviewer is mindful of that. However in concluding the article he feels that it doesn’t quite appear as good as it could be.

It’s an incredibly capable multimedia phone, no doubt, but for one reason or another, it just doesn’t seem a dramatic-enough upgrade to justify the sky-high prices being bandied around right now.

Pricing will indeed be interesting, and hopefully we get some indication of this soon. For those of you who aren’t already aware, or some time Play.Com in the Uk has had the phone listed at £599, which is equivalent to 749 euros or $1192 US … roughly the same price as the Limited Edition N96s are going for. It willbe interesting to see what deals the carriers have on offer - I can imagine the non-iPhone sellers will be keen to promote this phone with some good pricing (at least, I hope so).

My take - for those of us who brought the original Nokia N95, the release of the Nokia N96 can’t come soon enough. Reviews will always be a little about the opinion of the reviewer … everyone will of course be making up their own mind when the phone does get released.

Have you Faced the Task yet?

One thing that was obvious on Nokia’s Face The Task site was that they were clearly trying to establish it as a computer … one that just hapens to be able to make calls too. This is no doubt a carry on from the N95’s tag line (in my country at least) that it was “what computers have become”.

For those of you that haven’t entered the competition yet - you should. To enter you have to watch a series of videos about the phone, and this gives a good overview of the phone. It also worth mentioning that you can sign up on Nokia’s main site to be notified about when the phone becomes available (although strangely, you would’ve thought they’d tell me about the face the task site … hmmmm).
