Nokia N96 Release date changed to August 28th
As promised in my last post, I said I’d summarise when other blogs believe the Nokia N96 release date will be.
Generally the release date rumours are UK based. For a long time now Play.Com has had the Sim-Free version of the phone listed as being available from 31 July. On researching this article today though I see that their release date has now changed to 28th August (click here to see the page). This is somewhat unexpected - although Nokia itself hasn’t given a firm release date yet, other than “Q3″, one might’ve thought that Nokia would try and get the N96 out as soon as possible with the iPhone now out in the wild. However, perhaps the most notable sign that it really won’t be here at the start of AugustĀ is that we haven’t yet seen lots of promotion for what will be their flagship phone.
Is the delayed release date a good thing or a bad thing?
This news appears to supersede the NokiaN96.Net article I was going to link to which had highlighted some confusion over the release date, especially at the Carphone Warehouse.
Personally, I’m a little disappointed that we have to wait even longer - will my trusty N95 hold out that long? It’s screen has already been replaced once, and now out of warranty, I’m hoping the N96 arrives sooner rather than later!
