Nokia N96 Australian Launch Date

Nokia have announced that their Australian launch event will be held in Sydney on on Thursday 25th September at a media launch event, according to PlanetN96 .

There’s not a lot of other information for our Australian readers other than what we already know about the N96. At this stage there are no hints as to pricing for the Symbian based phone down under. One imagines it will be on par with the international pricing.

There is no word yet on the New Zealand release date, although it will be most likely quite close to the Australian date.

The interesting thing about the Australian / New Zealand markets is that the due to the iPhone only being released there this year the Nokia N95 has had a substantial amount of time to build it’s marketshare in the Australasian smart phone market. Since July the iPhone has been on sale in both countries (indeed, New Zealand was the first place in the world to sell a 3G iPhone) so it will be a much more competitive market this time around - something else that makes you wonder why it has taken them so long to release the Nokia N96.

More updates as they come to hand …
