Nokia N96 Battery Life Fears Proved Wrong

There has been a lot of debate since the specs of the Nokia N96 were first announced that the battery life was expected to be rather shocking due to it’s smaller size. As PlanetN96 reports:

“Nokia had countered this by saying that power performance had been much improved allowing the smaller, thinner battery to be used.”

However the good news is that this seems to NOT be the case - the battery can at least last all day and in fact appears to last a lot longer.

So how good is the battery life? Over at AllAboutSymbian they’ve reported the following :

I had a day out with it yesterday, took about 60 photos and 4 short Videos, plus surfed the net and checked email every 0.5 hour and watched
a few minutes of video. The battery indicator showed 1 or 2 bars usage all day to the evening, so battery life for me does not seem to be an
issue.

If you are searching for stories about battery life you will undoubtedly come across many articles claiming how shocking the battery life is - but my own intuition so far is that most of these people don’t actually have a Nokia N96 in their hands yet, whereas the guys at AllAboutSymbian do.

Someone else who has recently picked up a Nokia N96 is also very satisifed about battery life and posted their thoughts on a forum:

Battery life - wonderful. Even with the same size battery as the N95 it easily outlasts my N95-4 doing the same functions - shooting video, taking pics, web browsing, etc.

I’ll update as I come across any other Nokia N96 Battery Life news …

Hey, the names dave and i own a Nokia N95, the first australian version which uses a BL-5F battery. The battery life so shocking when i use my phone. On average days it usually lasts the day, but when music is playing (whether loud-speaker or headphones) or if i’m using the camera, or surfing the net, the battery just dies within the day.

Now that i have N-gage games on my phone, i’m playing it for usually 30 mins to hour, sometime for longer , at which point i’m left with only 1 bar left.

My inquiry is that, you say the battery life is great with music, photos and internet on the N96, but what of the battery consumption of the N-Gage application on the N96?

I’d be very interested on your verdict. You can contact me at my email address which is **removed** .Thank you in advance for you help =]
