Nokia N96 Running Slow? Upgrade Your Firmware!

If your Nokia N96 is giving you problems or not behaving as expected then the good news is that they have already released 2 firmware updates aimed at fixing various issues. The current version is 11.101.

For those of you are new to the world of Nokia N-Series phones, firmware upgrades are basically upgrades to the operating system of the phone (something we briefly talked about here ). They are actually really easy to do - you basically download the Nokia Software Updater onto your phone and it pretty much does all the work for you. The most important things are that you ensure your phone is fully charged before you do it and that you don’t interrupt the process.

It’s highly recommended that you upgrade your firmware whenever a new release comes out. Nokia are pretty good at fixing up their phone software and you will, with each firmware upgrade, note that the phone is better than it was before.

To start off getting the firmware upgrade visit the Nokia site here.

A list of what’s changed in the latest firmware upgrade, sourced from TheNokiaN96.Com is as follows :

The Nokia N96 v11.101 fixes these related problems: DM settings aren’t generated automatically, when Email settings are defined in variant — screen flashes when power saver time-out expires during an active video call — Mobile TV is unable to set the platform guide after phone reboot — 3D Ringing tone is too low, almost nothing cannot be heard during MT voice call — Audio: Phone resets when plugging and unplugging headset for several times during music playback.

A few other problems that are new solved are: Low audio volume in Mobile TV. DVB-H audio volume level is now set to be similar to N77 — Image Quality improvements — Illumination with Voice call — error fixes related to general system stability improvements.
